Kyocera seminar to put energy consumption under the spotlight

Document imaging company invites delegates to learn how the Carbon Reduction Commitment will impact on work practices

Kyocera, the leading document imaging company has unveiled its latest theme for the upcoming Green Card Seminar.

With the Carbon Reduction Commitment now predicted to affect as many as 20,000 UK organisations from 2010, the spotlight is back on energy consumption. While energy prices have fallen from their 2008 peak, the introduction of this cap and trade scheme will demand renewed focus on efficient energy use. Whilst data centres have made the headlines until now, the impact of desktop devices and office imaging equipment cannot be ignored.

The Green Card Conference will outline the key impacts of office printing and copying on energy consumption and offers solutions that can reduce electricity bills immediately, as well as strategies for driving down energy use in the future

Tracey Rawling Church: Director of Brand and Reputation, Kyocera

Tracey Rawling Church joined Kyocera Mita UK in 1993, attracted by the opportunity to work on its pioneering ECOSYS sustainable laser printer range. As PR manager, she was responsible for the campaign that beat the launch of Windows 95 to the award for best technology campaign. Moving on through product management and marketing communications, she was promoted to Kyocera Mita’s UK board in 2003. As a result of her work on Kyocera’s Green Card network, which promotes sustainable business practices, she has become a regular contributor to seminars and conferences on sustainability and CSR topics. Kyocera’s corporate value system has always been rooted in an ethical and sustainable approach to business, a philosophy which has become increasingly relevant during the 50 years since it was founded.

Henry Garthwaite: Business Development Manager, The Carbon Trust Standard Company

Since March 2008, Henry has been the Business Development Manager for the Carbon Trust Standard, including for its launch in June 2008. He joined the Carbon Trust in June 2006 and has since led a wide range of engagements with large corporates to reduce their carbon emissions (both owned and influenced) and to help them engage with the issues and opportunities of a low carbon economy and a changing climate.

His focus was principally in Financial Services, Professional Services and the Utilities sector. Prior to the Carbon Trust, Henry spent 12 years leading, designing and implementing large change management programmes in the Financial Services sector.

Dan Ilett: Journalist, GreenBang.com

Dan is an award winning journalist whose work includes The Financial Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Economist Group and CNET. Dan also writes, edits and promotes the blog Greenbang.com

In a first for the Green Card Conference, we have decided to leave one 20 minute speaker slot open for this summer’s event and are asking you to help us fill it. We know there’s an amazing wealth of knowledge in the Green Card Network and we would like to help showcase it. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never spoken at an event before or are a seasoned professional, we would love to hear your ideas.

The event will run from 9.30am – 12.30pm with lunch, at 100 Longwater Avenue, GreenPark, Reading on July 9th.
