Kyocera's ECOSYS technology continues to prove its environmental credentials by winning the highly regarded Document Manager (DM) Awards 2008 Green Product of the Year.

The annual DM Awards allows the readers of Document Manager magazine to reward the outstanding products, suppliers and projects of the year. The 2008 Awards saw in excess of 5000 readers vote for their favourite products and companies.

It's no good having a highly functional printer with low consumables costs if it is forever breaking down, which is why Kyocera Mita is delighted that its mono devices have won a Platinum award for reliability from the readers of respected industry magazine BERTL. Our long life technology guarantees reliability and it's great to see this technology proven in the real world.

BERTL's report found that users liked the hardiness of the mono component system and durable photoconductor drum, as well as the devices' overall reliability under duress.

Reliability and advanced functionality are pre-requisites for user productivity, therefore it's no surprise that Kyocera machines were honoured with a Gold award for productivity from BERTL Readers.

One voter commented: "Having three different print PDLs in the same driver lets my people use the print driver that best matches their work. Some design projects run better in PostScript and others seem to work better in PCL printing. Although I never actually sat and timed the devices, the 40 people in my office say the Kyocera MIta devices are more productive than any other MFP in the office. If my people are happy, my job is easier, so Kyocera Mita has my vote."

While it's easy to judge a device's expense relative to the competition in terms of its initial capital cost, the issue of running cost is more difficult to assess. With running costs determined by a complex mix of factors, Bertl polled their end-users to learn how they viewed each of the manufactures overall cost.

After extensive testing it was no surprise that Kyocera Mita was honoured with the "End User Platinum Award" for Running Costs.

Resellers see both sides of the digital imaging commerce, representing the technology and marketing strategies of the manufacturers and matching the best solutions for end users. Just fewer than 1,000 enthusiastic and vocal resellers participate in BERTL's Readers' Choice survey to give their vote on which manufacture offers the best overall ability to offer devices and solutions that can still deliver a profit.

Today the most important factor in reliability is not the hardware, but how users operate the machine. Servicing Dealers are looking to manufactures to reduce the time involved in maintaining a device throughout the contract life. One way of doing this is by using longer lasting components (like Kyocera's long life drum and developer) which require fewer callouts to engineers.
