As a manufacturer of office products that have an undeniable impact on the environment, Kyocera Mita recognises that it has a duty to take action to help reduce that impact. While ECOSYS technology dramatically reduces the waste associated with the product when in use, there are further impacts such as energy consumption and paper use that must be addressed. Technology developments can go some way towards mitigating these impacts, but by far the greater challenge lies in user education.
In 2001, Kyocera Mita identified a need for an information resource that would enable organisations to share best practice regarding business environmental initiatives. The free-to-join Green Card network, with its online portal, regular newsletters and publications, and annual conference and seminar, now helps around 4000 organisations from the public and private sector learn about reducing the impact of their office activities.
